Direct answer: Sportsbooks make it easy to place a bet, but bettors are often left alone once the game begins and the original position changes.
A bettor can watch a favorite take the lead and still be losing a saved spread. A parlay can reach its final leg while the sportsbook presents a cash-out number without explaining the actual profit. A player prop can weaken because of role, pace, foul trouble, injury, or rotation changes even when the live odds look attractive.
The missing layer is post-bet decision support: what changed, which saved wager is affected, whether the position improved or weakened, and what another wager would do to the complete financial outcome.
PLA starts with the saved wager

The system preserves the original team or player, market, line, odds, stake, potential profit, potential return, and unresolved legs. That distinction matters because the same score can mean different things to different bettors.

Why another bet is not always the answer
Direct answer: A risk-management system should recommend $0 whenever the available hedge is too early, incomplete, expensive, stale, or financially worse than holding.
Betting the opposite team does not automatically protect the original market. Two spreads can leave a final-margin range where both wagers lose. A late opposite moneyline may cost more than the original upside can support. A cash-out offer may create a stronger immediate floor than any available self-directed hedge.
